The UNISON national retired members’ committee has voted by an overwhelming majority (70%) to endorse Christina McAnea in the UNISON general secretary election.
The committee said that it believes that Christina has the experience, proven track record and vision to lead the union in partnership with all members, including retired members.
Committee chair Rosie MacGregor, explained: “Christina has shown her commitment to retired members’ concerns by launching UNISON’s Care After COVID campaign and by calling for a universal Social Care Service that provides cradle to grave care.”
Branch and regional retired members’ groups are asked to communicate this decision to their members.
